Let's Go Cidering
I have been avoiding alcohol due to some health issues and haven't brewed in a year. So, my 2 taps on my kegerator were looking a little sad and lonely. I decided to do a minimal effort project and make a cheap, easy, cider.
So, I picked up 5 gallons of organic apple juice from Aldi, dumped it in a carboy and tossed in a yeast blend of the cider house yeast and Sacc Trois and let it ferment for about a week.
Once it was stable, I added potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulfite to the carboy, swirled it and waited about 24 hours. I thin separated the batch into 2 2.5 gallon sanitized kegs. In the first, I added 1 can of frozen concentrated apple juice and the other got a can of frozen concentrated pineapple juice. I set them at 10 psi and am letting them carb up.
We will taste this weekend. So, stay tuned for tasting notes and a full recipe.
